TO a blessed weekend. Welcome to this year's MATCOD Retreat. Below you will find a brief summary of the retreat itinerary. We pray that the Father, Son and Spirit would minister to your needs through genuine fellowship, praise and study of God's word with Men gathered from Churches across the Metro Detroit Area.
Please spend a little time familiarizing yourself with the Website, for it will probably answer most of your questions. Additionally, if you are interested in becoming a part of MATCOD be sure to click on the link below.

Workshop Wrapup
Unity in diversity is fundamental to Christian faith and practice. Reaching beyond racial, cultural, denominational and social barriers, MATCOD (Men At The Church Of Detroit) consists of men who are in fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ and one another. Men from all places and walks of life, who are willing to be challenged by the Holy Spirit and Word of GOD to represent the Body of Christ to a fallen world through transformed lives.
Car racing legend Bobby Unser faced the toughest race of his life--and won. He and a friend, Robert Gayton, were snowmobiling in New Mexico when both of their sleds quit working. Snowdrifts as high as their chests, temperatures as low as zero, and winds as stiff as 70 mph hampered their attempt to find shelter. They even had to spend one night in a snow cave they made. Late the next day they found a barn with a heater and a phone.
After the rescue, Unser said, "Every decision we made had to be right." He and his friend had experienced a terrifying struggle with the elements they couldn't control as they did everything possible to stay alive.
As Christians, we are living in a world that is hostile to our spiritual survival. Every day we go up against forces that could destroy us. Some are internal--our pride and selfish desires. Some are external forces--ungodly media influences, acquaintances who don't support our faith, the stresses of life. Wrong decisions as we face these "blizzards" can lead to destruction.
Every move we make--each word and action--must be done in Jesus' name (Col. 3:17). We must live according to God's principles... which will make every move count. -DCM
Summing it up this is what the mission of MATCOD is about ...EQUIPPING MEN OF every background, through the empowering of the Holy Spirit, to make right decisions in life based upon the principles of God's word.

The Bible, Trinity & Man
1. We believe that the Bible, consisting of Old and New Testaments only, is verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, is inerrant in the original manuscripts, and is the infallible and authoritative Word of God.
2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
3. We believe that Adam, created in the image of God, was tempted by Satan, the devil, and fell. Sin remains in man, and can be forgiven through repentance and the forgiveness of God through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Christ, the Holy Spirit & Salvation
4. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
5. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
6. We believe that salvation consists in the remission of sins, the imputation of Christ's righteousness, and the gift of eternal life received by faith alone, apart from works.

The Godly Life, Eternal State, & Church
7. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
8. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
9. We believe that the Church, the body of Christ, consists only of those who are born again, who are baptized by the Holy Spirit into Christ at the time of regeneration, for whom He now makes intercession in heaven and for whom He will come again.

The Church's Mission & Christ's Return
10. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
11. We believe that Christ instructed the Church to go into the entire world and preach the gospel to every person, baptizing and teaching those who believe.
12. We believe that the return of Jesus Christ is imminent, and that it will be visible and personal.
